We began with fair chance hiring because we saw firsthand how background checks can become a barrier to opportunity. We set out to help employers widen their talent pools and assess records fairly—grounded in context, evidence, and recognition for people’s potential.
Over time, that same conviction led us to a broader truth: fairer communities are built not only through opportunity, but also through protection from harm.
Our mission is to build stronger communities by advancing fairness and safety through fair chance hiring and by protecting people from fraud, abuse, and exploitation. For us, fairness and safety aren't parallel tracks—they're the same road toward communities where everyone can flourish.

Fair chance hiring gives justice-impacted people access to jobs and economic opportunity. Employment is one of the most reliable predictors of whether someone stays out of prison, which means it’s inseparable from community safety.

Fraud, exploitation, and abuse don't just cause harm, they erase opportunity and undermine fairness for our most vulnerable populations. That's why safety is at the heart of what we do.
